At Engenious Design, Project Directors are experienced team leaders who know how to develop new technology systems; electro-mechanical systems brought to life with embedded software. Directors are visionary technical leaders with a knack for bringing new products to life. They are restless streamliners, improvers and optimizers.They are responsible for creating the big picture framework to translate client vision into a technology solution. This person isn't afraid to get their hands dirty in the lab creating and testing prototypes. They are equally comfortable collaborating with clients, designers and engineers. Directors draw from their experience launching multiple products into manufacturing, understanding what it takes for a design to be successful in manufacturing and in the hands of customers.RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with clients to translate their vision into a technology solution, creating the big picture framework for how to make it happen undertaking projects with budgets ranging from $100k to $25MM.
• Lead cross-functional technical teams diving deep into brainstorming, issues, risks and communicating the vision.
• Be hands-on in testing prototypes using test equipment and simulating what customers will experience.
• Interact with a world class team of engineers, technicians, designers, and others. Quickly identify and implement high level course corrections when needed, creating a great team experience.
• Establish and maintain relationships with clients, creating a great client experience.
• See your designs help real people - we create life-sustaining medical devices and other advanced technology systems that make the world better.
• Build a Portfolio to be proud of with opportunities to work on medical, aerospace, automotive, industrial, and consumer products.
• Mentor and Champion Professional Growth Opportunities for other engineers on your team.POSITION DETAILS:This is a full-time, non-temporary position. This position works from our Kansas City based design center and is not available as a remote position. The application will require you to verify willingness to relocate to the Kansas City area (if you don't already live in the KC metro). We will happily relocate you to KC if you don't already live in the metro area.We recognize that top talent comes from all over the world. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.REQUIRED SKILLS TO HAVE FOR THE SUCCESS OF THIS ROLE:
  • 5+ years of experience in new product development (as engineer or technical lead).
  • Demonstrable record of bringing new products to market through product development.
  • Ability to lead a team of engineers and designers to deliver on product development commitments.
  • Degree in a relevant engineering background (e.g. Bio Medical, Mechanical, Electrical, Software).
  • Demonstrated experience and success in leading medium and large, sophisticated projects/programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to flourish in a fast paced, problem-solving environment.NICE TO HAVES:
    • Medical device experience is preferred but any physical technology product development experience is applicable.
