*This is an individual contributor role that is required to go into the Overland Park, KS office at least 3 days a week*

Job Overview
The Sr Category Manager is a lead position for commercial contracting of Core Network software, hardware and services. The positions specific focus is direct contracting with sophisticated network suppliers. The Sr Category Manager is responsible for direct supplier negotiations on contracts for highest complexity programs. It will work closely with Legal and other key internal stakeholders to develop and finalize applicable contracts. It requires expert level contract drafting, with a law degree preferred. The primary responsibility of the Sr Category Manager is to memorialize language that protects T-Mobile while meeting aggressive timelines for contract closure.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct contract negotiations with Core Network suppliers.
  • Provide expert level contract analysis and communicate to leadership as required.
  • Work with assigned suppliers to streamline contracting processes that improve contracting cycle time.
  • Acting expert leader/mentor to junior members related to contracting activities.
  • Liaison for resolving supplier-related issues for contract related activities.
  • Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.

    Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering or similar area.(Required)
    • Master's/Advanced Law Degree (Preferred)

      Work Experience:
      • 10+ year experience in commercial contracting. (Required)
      • 5+ year track record in a global procurement organization. (Required)
      • 2-4 years experience with sourcing/procurement of network or IT technologies. (Preferred)

        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
        • Advanced key procurement skills: Development / management of category strategies; RFP / RFI development, contract negotiations, strategic sourcing, management of supplier relationship lifecycle, understanding of risk mitigation principles, and understanding of various cost evaluation methods (TCO, ROI, Payback Period, etc.) (Required)
        • Results driven, innovative & creative (Required)
        • Aligns and energizes behind common objectives, action-oriented & willing to face challenging situations (Required)
        • The ability to formulate and articulate a strategy and business case and build a tactical path (Required)
        • Demonstrates candor; ability to respectfully challenge senior leadership (Required)
        • Comfort/familiarity with constructing presentations, organization communications, and business cases (Required)
        • Strong ability to build relationships and networks with multiple functions and at the leadership levels (Required)
        • Strong analytical capabilities and negotiation skills (Required)
        • Self-starter and independent worker (Required)
        • Strong leadership skills (Required)

          Overland Park, KS compensation range: $121,600 - $164,600

          Base Pay Range: $111,700 - $201,600

          Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

          The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

          At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
