Hospital: Research Psychiatric Center
Location: Kansas City, MO
Address: 2323 E. 63rd Street
Patient Ratios: Nurses 8:1, MHTs 12:1
Staffing Description:
ADOL: Treats patients aged 12-18
Serenity: Lower acuity adult unit
ITU: Higher acuity adult unit (patients with thought disorder
diagnoses)
SRAD: Senior lifestyle patients
VINE: Lower acuity adult unit
Equipment: Standard psychiatric care equipment
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling Requirements: Coverage for three 12-hour shifts per day,
seven days a week (weekends included). Days off are not guaranteed
unless specified in the contract.
On-Call Requirements: Not applicable
Floating Policy: Staff may float to areas of greatest need.
Patient Experience Requirements: HCA follows ICARE
values-Integrity, Compassion, Always, and Respect-and uses AIDET
(Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) for
positive communication.
Certifications Required:
BLS (Basic Life Support)
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
Key Skills and Responsibilities:
Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate, short-term support to
patients in crisis, including de-escalation techniques and
appropriate medication management.
Assessment: Ability to assess mental health status, identify
psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral issues.
Care Planning: Develop individualized care plans, set goals, and
evaluate outcomes for patients with behavioral health needs.
Medication Management: Administer psychiatric medications and
monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
Therapeutic Communication: Build trust with patients through active
listening, empathy, and effective communication.
Procedures Performed: Monitoring patients for physical and
psychological symptoms, including vital signs, mental status
