The Kemper has consistently sought to spotlight living artists and has been crucial to the careers of many emerging artists.The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is a mid-sized museum with approximately 36 FTEs and an annual budget of approximately $5.5M. The museum is exceptionally well-sited on three adjacent properties in Kansas City.Position SummaryThe Kemper Museum seeks an ambitious and innovative Chief Development Officer (CDO) to join its leadership team. The CDO will create and implement a comprehensive multi-year fundraising program that will significantly increase revenue and grow the Museum's donor base. The CDO will be an energetic, experienced, and enterprising leader who is passionate about the vision and mission of the museum.The CDO will coordinate membership, annual giving, major and planned gifts, corporate giving, endowment growth, gift processing, data management, and special events. The CDO will also be an effective manager, capable of producing a successful advancement operation.Primary Responsibilities

• Create and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
• Lead and manage all aspects of the fundraising program.
• Develop and implement a marketing strategy to support fundraising efforts.
• Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees.
• Develop and implement strategies to raise awareness of the organization's mission.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain effective systems and processes to support fundraising operations.
• Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.Qualifications

• A demonstrated passion for the organization's mission and fundraising.
• Proven experience building a major gift program and securing funding.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Prior experience creating strategic multiyear fundraising plans.
• Demonstrated success in staff management and mentorship.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development.
